Faux Tearing/Metallic Pencil Resist Tutorial

OK, I know it took me a few days, but I got it done! Here is how I made the card I posted earlier this week.

Supplies needed:

Mar_049

Glossy cardstock

Scrap Cardstock

Temporary Adhesive/ I used dbl. sided tape, you don’t want to leave a residue on the glossy

Classic Inks: Black and 3 other colors, I used Night of Navy Bravo Burgundy and Handsome Hunter

Metallic pencils (you can use other wax based pencils too)

Stampin’ Sponges

Tissue

1. Tear your scrap cardstock in half.

2. Secure your scrap piece on your glossy cardstock with your temporary adhesive, leaving open the amount of space you want the design to fill.

Mar_052 3. Stamp your images randomly on the glossy cardstock with your black classic ink, making sure to stamp onto the scrap paper as well. When working with multiple images for a collage look, it is easiest to start with your largest images, and fill in with the smaller.

Mar_053 4. Using your metallic pencils, randomly highlight certain areas of your images. Following the outlines or predetermined shading on the stamps, depending on the look of the piece. I try to not be very precise here worrying about proper shadowing, I just randomly choose areas. I also choose to use all the colors because they give very different effects under the different inks.

Mar_054 5. Using your stamping sponges and your ink pads, apply color randomly to the glossy cardstock, again making sure to go over onto the scrap. This creates the look of the torn edge on the glossy.

Mar_055 6. Continue to fill in the area with your remaining color(s).

Mar_056 7. After completely filling in, take your facial tissue and gently rub over the entire image. This will lift the ink off of where you did your pencil highlighting.

Mar_057 8. Remove your mask and complete your card!
