#tgifc564 Sketch Challenge – Stampin’ Up! Rhino Ready Valentine

Hello! Happy Friday, and welcome back. It has been a long, long time, but after a few life changes, and a renewed sense of creative self, I am hoping to be back and as good as ever – even if that takes a little time. I am committed to giving myself grace as I get back in to the craft that I have loved for over 20 years. Figured I might as well start with one of the best ways to get the creative juices flowing, and that is with a good old fashioned challenge, and I might be biased, but I think TGIF Challenges have some of the best!

It’s a GREAT sketch challenge! Now, being as I am getting back in to things, I am slowly trying to rebuild my stamp room supplies, and I am doing it just as I have taught my customers/class members/friends for the last 20 years… 1. It’s ok to do it slowly
2. Choose a FEW stamp sets that you LOVE and you know you will USE
3. Invest in the Inks, Cardstocks, and Designer Series Papers – THESE are the things that will bring your stamp sets to life and allow you to create MORE (yes, I think even more than the stamp sets!)

This means I am mixing a LOT of older stamp sets, some from my older Paper Pumpkin sets (They are an AMAZING resource for holidays and occasions!) With some newer things. The idea being that you can create for almost any occasion with the few sets and the right supplies. Take the set I am using today – Rhino Ready from Stampin’ Up! Most people wouldn’t look at it as a Valentine set right away, but how cute is this little guy with his birdie buddy on his back?

After coloring him and his buddy in with my favorite product since MDS – my Stampin’ Blends, I cut him out and placed him on the background I also stamped and colored with the Blends. The sentiment is from one of those old Paper Pumpkins I was talking about and the Real Red ribbon is probably a few years old. It’s ok to use what you have! I found this fun heart pattern in the NEW Loves Notes Mix & Match DSP. I just fell in love with the beautiful watercolor images!!! Over all, I love the way the card turned out. In hindsight, I might’ve trimmed the grassy layer Iittle more, but it’s still a super cute card, and my teenage son should still like it and wouldn’t even know! LOL!!!

I know it’s a simple card. That’s ok, it’s perfect for who it is going to. I sometimes have to keep that in mind! I hope that I was able to inspire you to create with what you have, and to play along with this week’s #tgifchallenges. We would LOVE to see what you come up with using this great sketch!

P.S. Yes, I am still an active Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator – if you would like to support my business you can still SHOP HERE
