Yucky….
Yeah, that title should really make you want to read this post, huh?
Well, that’s how I’ve been feeling the past few days. On Sunday the 8th, while back in Missouri I got 2 nice little mosquito bites on the back of my left leg. No biggie…. oh my how they itched, then they just kind of hung around(yes, I was wearing spray). About Wednesday or so, I got another knarly little bite on my left ankle, this time I was in bed, so probably a spider of some sort right? again, Ow! but no biggie it itched, and looked really bad. Fast forward a week…. Wednesday I wake up and I feel so stiff and swollen. Hmmm, I wonder if this has anything to do with my bites. Naw, those are old right? Let’s skip a day. Thursday afternoon, ten minutes before hubby is supposed to leave for work, I tell him – honey, can you check this new bite on my shoulder, it reallly itches? (Now Vegas has hardly any bugs what so ever, but the first West Nile case was here in Clark County this year, soooo…) His reply, "Um, Honey, this isn’t good. It’s really raised, looks like a quarter – I want you to go to the doctor – NOW" oh crud! I get ready to go, take a look at those two "innocent" little bites on the back of my left leg (because they’re still hanging out) and they look like 2" raised BULLSEYES! YIKES! What the heck? Ok, I’m out of here! So no one can come keep an eye on the kids so hubby’s going to have to be late for work. Get to the doctor, no appointment of course, so receptionist asks if I’ve taken any Benadryl yet. I told her no, and I’ve never had a reaction like this before so I am a little freaked out! The bite on my back is now a full blown WELT. ( Those of you in the mid west – stop laughing at me…I am not used to this k?) I’d post phots, but I figure then y’all would never come back.
So, super antibiotic and Loratadine Rx later, plus lots of Benadryl gel (some upset stomach – YUCk – the worst part maybe, more aches, and a bit of sleep) my bites are now 12 days old and the Bullseye isn’t quite so noticable, but still there – and they hurt! So, watching all my bites from now on…vaccumed the whole house and matresses, washed all my bedding in super hot water, had the bug guy come out between visits to spray the inside of the house. I am getting a bit of my energy back, and I don’t feel quite so "swollen". Of course, now I am a little behind, but I’ll get there.
I got an amazing RAK this week from Jen’s RAK club, but I’m going to have to post that tomorrow. I need to go to bed. Melanie gave me one of those Rockin’ girl blogger things – I’ll get to that too – not feelin so Rockin’ yet. Have almost all my convention swaps done! Wahoo! Now I can stamp for fun again. Oh yeah, Hubby bought me 3 new stamps sets I am really excited about……

oh my poor sistah! those bites seem scary (but glad that you were sorta laughing about them). Yea, please be careful with that West Nile scare… freaks me out too!!!

Jen
ooohh your poor girl! hugs to you!!! glad your getting better! my hubby reacts to bug bites badly! get some rest! and relax!
My daughter is allergic to mosquito bites too! We have a stick, can’t remember the name of it, that we rub on them as soon as she finds them and it works wonders! I think it’s called something like (don’t laugh) “Skeeter Stick”! Good luck with yours and have fun at convention!
I am sorry you had a rough time of it. But it sounds like you are on the mend. I am glad you went to the dr though.
I wouldn’t laugh at you….can’t be too careful these days, you know? Glad you are on the mend.
I just got back from Jersey with 7 mosquito bites yeah fun Cameron and Eric call them boo boos and insist on bandaids so my kids were walking around with lots of bandaids the past 2 weeks!!!!
