We Create Blog Hop – Stampin’ Up! Guy Greetings

Happy new Stampin' Up! Catalog Day!!!

Welcome to this month's We Create Blog Hop – Step It Up! Every month we get together as a small group to share some fun ideas creating a "simple" project, and a "stepped-up" project. I love this theme and sharing with you every month.

We Create 2017 (1)

I am so happy to be back hopping with this fun group of ladies. I had to skip last month as we were thick in the middle of moving, and despite my best intentions, well, I wasn't that far ahead!

Speaking of getting ahead, I figured that I would get a few Father's Day cards done, being as I know that I am going to be needing them soon. Guy Greetings to the rescue! Such a great set!

The differences are so very subtle, but sometimes just those few little tweaks can really step things up. Let's take a peek at the simple card first:

The anchor and sentiment are stamped on Very Vanilla in Early Espresso ink, and on the Tranquil Tide, it's stamped in Tranquil Tide ink. The anchor is cut out with the Stitched Shapes Circles dies, and a piece of the new Copper Trim adds some texture behind it. The sentiment is in a very simple, hand-cut banner shape. It's a handsome card, and is easy to duplicate!!!

The stepped up version doesn't add too much work, but adds some nice touches.

I added some detail to the anchor with just a quick addition of some color, thanks to the Watercolor Pencils. I didn't "paint" with them, or blend them, I just colored. I also pulled the Copper Trim a little bit, giving the ribbon a little more weight and texture. The only other change was cutting the sentiment apart and adding it to the corner in a stacked and staggered pattern. Simple, simple changes, but ones that will elevate your cards just enough.

Here is the list of supplies that I used. By clicking on the images below, you can the items directly to your cart so that you can create this card, and MANY other projects too!!! Please enter 2XUWASBT as your hostess code, and I will send you a special thank you gift! (U.S. only)

  1. What great masculine cards! The anchor fits perfectly in your stitched framelit circle. I really do like the touch of color you added to the rope with the pencil! Can’t wait to get my hands on the copper trim! Awesome cards! Your anchors are stamped so perfectly that it looks like DSP. Great job!
