One Stamp At A Time Blog Hop Birthday Bash!

OSAT buttons-002

Hi there!

Welcome back to the One Stamp At A Time Blog Hop! This month's theme is so much fun – and very timely! It's all about birthdays!!! August is my crazy birthday month. I made lots of birthday cards, but learned a VERY important lesson.

So, you know the saying about the cobbler's kids not having any shoes? Well, at 2 hours before my SON'S birthday party, I told him that I was sorry, but I had not finished a card for him. OMG – the look on his face broke my heart!!! He started asking, "but Mom, can't Dad do the other stuff to help you get ready while you make my card?", "well, can't something else happen so that you can make my card?" I wanted to crawl in a hole. Let's just say, I gave up a lot of control, including handing over cake decorating duty to my husband to make sure that my son had his card from Mommy…

I am so glad I was able to squeak out a quick card and gift card box.

"Kind, sweet, fun, amazing, fabulous….." I could have gone and on. He is truly a burst of sunshine in my life. I am blessed with 3 amazing boys, but I have such a soft spot for this one, and he knows it. He knows he is the one that made my greatest wish come true – the wish to be a Mommy.

I am so grateful that Stampin' Up! makes it easy to make quick projects with great coordinating projects and awesome dies.

You know that being as he was getting gift cards, a coordinating box seemed like a great option!

  1. Jeanne, Great card and box. I can so imagine the look of disappointment on your son’s face. You knocked it out with stunning results. Glad you were able to give up some control so you could make a card for your son. So special!

  2. Love this card and the story behind it. My son is 22 and still loves my handmade cards. He is away at Law School and keeps every single card and such that I send him in a special box. He too would be crushed if I didn’t make him a card for his birthday. I know there are many kids who don’t appreciate what we do as much as our sons. Enjoy these days with him. It goes oh so fast.

  3. Sweet, kind, fun, fabulous… My favorite part of your card and project is that you stamped these sweet words for your boy on the backgrounds. I’ve got a fourteen year old son and this is the kind of project I know he would love to receive! Thanks for sharing and I hope your son had an amazing birthday!!
