Creation Station Blog Hop – Artfully Stepped Up, Stampin’ Up! Sweets & Treats

Hi stamping friend! Glad to have you stop by today. I am so happy to be creating with the wonderful Creation Station team today. Super fun theme for you too, Step It Up. In case you aren't familiar with the term, it's taking a simple project, and adding to it to create something more detailed… You might have figured that out, but in case it's an unfamiliar term, hopefully that helps. I actually did this backwards, I'll tell ya what I mean….

I actually created my "Stepped Up" version first. I tend to create on a more "avid" level, so often times my cards have a lot of detail, layers, techniques and or supplies. So it seemed natural to me to just create that way, then see if I could figure out a more simple version.

As you can see, the cards do look very similar. I'll give you a few details on the "simple" version first.

For this card, I tried to go back to my roots – no punches, not heat embossing, no pressure embossing or die cuts – not even Designer Series Paper!!! SERIOUSLY!!! Just some cardstock, ink, a few Stampin' Blends and a couple of Red Rhinestone Gems added in for good measure. I did very minimal shading on the image, and even used my Stampin' Blends to create my own "Designer Paper"

So the first card was just fine, but this card is my heart!!!! I LOVE this card and how it turned out. The layers, the coloring, the texture….everything! I added a lot more detail and texture to this card, with layering the colored image, using the scalloped rectangular die cut, adding some Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper, and distressing the edges of the Pear Pizzazz layer.

I am seriously stoked to visit everyone's blog today. Next up is Julie!
