#tgifc587 Tone on Tone Challenge featuring Stampin’ Up!’s Silly Old Bear

It seems like keeping up on this blog has been harder than I thought it was going to be. It’s definitely a habit thing for sure. I can’t believe I used to be so good, so consistent, posting multiple times a week, and now it might be a few times a year? YIKES. Does that need to change? Yes. Do I want it to change? Also Yes. Hoping I’ll be able to soon.

I recently attended my first stamping/scrapbooking retreat, hosted by my friend Mindy. I had a wonderful time! It was a small group in a cabin in Utah, and it was just what I needed. Since it was my first time packing for and attending an event like this, I think I did pretty well choosing what I needed, although I would for sure do things a little differently next time. I’m going to call it a complete success, though, as I was able to finish over NINETY projects (yes, some were simple/multiples but needed to get done regardless), and a few were ones that I absolutely LOVE and can’t wait to share with y’all.

I’ll start with this week’s TGIF Challenges one. It’s on the simple side, and I made a style of card I hadn’t made in forever – a pocket card! Considering I hadn’t even created anything since May, I’m happy with it!

So you can see it was a Tone-on-Tone challenge, and I decided to combine Hydrangea Hue with Basic White, along with sweet little Eeyore from Silly Old Bear and some of my FAVORITE Designer Series Paper, the In Color Gingham!

I think if I were to do it over again, I might add a little more white, or larger borders around the Gingham, but overall that’s probably me just being a little nit-picky with myself.

Three Key Points –

• To achieve the darker border behind the main image, I simply darkened the Hydrangea Hue Cardstock with my Hydrangea Hue Dark Blends Marker
• The new Stampin’ Up! White Gel Pen is RIDICULOUSLY awesome!
• I think the last time I made this style of card was before Mini Dimensionals or Dimensional Strips, so I just used a tiny line of Liquid Glue, because that is what I was used to. That was silly. Dimensionals would have been way better!

One thing that this last weekend showed me, even more than going to OnStage or anything else like that – I MISS, truly, truly MISS stamping, creating, and being with my friends who love to do it too. I am hoping that I will be able to continue to create, pursue a lucrative Stampin’ Up! business again, and get back to something that I truly love and brings me joy. Praying that it is the right time.
