Happy Friday!!!! Didn't you LOVE Jane's project! She is so amazing. I am so excited to finally share with you the project that I made for the Stampin' Up! Artsian Facebook Showcase this month. Now I know it is already January, but even the folks at Stampin; Up! have to take a Christmas break. I have LOVED the Designer Fabric ever since I laid eyes on it, but wasn't sure I really NEEDED it. THen Stampin' Up! sent me some and I knew I would need MORE!

Now, my Mom – she can sew anything – me, not so much. But I love fabric. It is one of my goals this month to create more with fabric. So for this project, I decided to start small. BUT – I took step by step photos for you so that if you like these adorable little ties, you can make them for yourself too!!!

No Sew ties

"Twin Cousins" my little guy in the green tie and his 1 day younger cousin in the red tie

Ok, so you can "Awwwwwww" for a moment. They are super cute – and the ties are kind of cool too 🙂

So, here is how I made the ties

No sew tie tutorial 1

you are going to need one of these. I tried to blow off all the dust before I took the picture. Oh! Get your hot glue gun ready too!

Cut two pieces of fabric. The piece on the left is about 1"x4" and the one on the right is 5"x8"

Take the two 5 inch sides and fold them in to the center (now it is 4" x 5") Give it a quick iron to get crisp edges.

turn downabout a 1/4" or so and use hot glue to secure down. Fold up bottom to the middle (give it a quick iron), then the top (with the "finished" edge) down over that. Glue the finished edge down.

Once you have done the last step, pinch up the middle of the tie in your fingers making a bow shape. You can add a little drop of hot glue inbween the folds to help keep it's shape.

Now it's time to move on to this piece!

Fold the two long edges to the middle and give it a press and glue it closed.

Fold over a little 1/4" on both edges (one shown) and give it a press before glueing it down

IMG_3168

Secure this piece to the front of the bow with another little drop of that hot glue

Wrap it around the back and glue as shown. Add an alligator clip to the finishing end before gluing down.

Glue down the final end securing the alligator clip in place.

Clip it on to your little cutie pie(s)

TRY to get them to sit still and not be super silly for a decent photo!

  1. I bet you could use a hair clip on those, probably making the bow a bit smaller, and have matching hair bows for little girls. Nice tutorial and details (and those little boys are super cute).
